About C. L. Smith Industrial

C.L. Smith Industrial Company (CLSI), a privately held, family owned, and veteran owned business is headquartered in Arnold, Missouri centrally located just 20 miles south of St. Louis. We serve our customers in an effective, cost-efficient manner and since 1977 our reputation has been built on quality, service, and customer satisfaction.

Our products and services improve the reliability and service life of equipment and systems which are subjected to wear damage caused by abrasion or corrosion. With material selection custom designed for the application we can choose from a wide variety of offerings including alumina ceramic, tungsten carbides, silicon carbides (nitride bonded and reaction bonded), chromium carbide overlay (CCO), basalt, UHMW, AR plate, wear compounds and refractories. With our full line of RTV and epoxy adhesives, CLS-4000 vacuum bonding technology, EPR (Engineered Pipe Repair) and ceramic lined rubber products the options to finding the right solution are unlimited.

Coors was searching for other applications for this extremely hard and abrasive resistant material and encouraged Mr. Smith to market ceramics to his contacts in the steel and paint industries and recognized an even greater opportunity in coal fired power generation. Ushering in this pioneering use of ceramics lead Mr. Smith to form and incorporate C.L. Smith Industrial Company which quickly became one of the largest alumina ceramic distributors in the US. Following years of industry spin-offs and consolidations, CLSI remains a prominent force in the wear protection market with many industry alumni both as competitors and suppliers.
